In a recent article published by Superyacht Times, a leading yachting news platform, IR Yachts Mahmoud Itani shared his insights about the glamour behind building those unique masterpieces. There is a long tradition of sailing dhows in the UAE, and this is where the inspiration for building these superyachts come from. A shipyard in Dubai famed for building these dhows has branched into the luxury yacht manufacturing arena and building two large superyachts out of wood.
The wooden superyachts infuse the two traditions. “The DNA of these superyachts relate just as much to the original dhows as they do to the wide beam and voluminous modern ones,” Mahmoud Itani of IR Yachts told SuperYacht Times. “In this region, onboard space is really important as people want to go out with large groups of friends; usage is very different to Europe.”
